Good Fats

by

Fat is extremely important for the body. It keeps us warm, supplies an internal cushion for our organs, and is extremely important for heart health. There are good fats and bad fats. The bad fats are saturated fats and are contained in biscuits, cakes, crisps, and pastries to name just a few. Try to avoid any foods that contain hydrogenated fats. These fats have been liquidized and then re-hardened to add taste and texture to food. They are the worse kind of fat for the body and too many of them may start to clog the arteries.

Many people who seek to lose weight believe that they have to cut fat out of their diet. It is dangerous to try to cut out all fats. You should still seek to consume mono-saturated and poly-unsaturated fats. These are the best fats and actually help the body to burn off excess bad fats. Healthy fats are contained in oily fish – tuna, mackerel, salmon, nuts and seeds, olive oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil, rapeseed oil, and hazelnut oils. All kinds of seeds – pumpkin, sunflower, and linseeds are very beneficial for the heart.

Eating a mono-saturated fat rich diet will help heart health and lower dangerous LDL cholesterols in the body. Just a handful of mixed unsalted nuts or two tablespoons of sunflower/linseed/pumpkin seeds is a great way to consume healthy fats. Seeds can also be sprinkled on salads and stir-fry’s. Omega 3 EFAs (essential fatty acids) go one-step further and help to shrink fat tissues and regulate the metabolism.

Essential fatty acids are a wonderful way to keep the heart healthy, burn off excess bad fats, and prevent strokes, heart diseases, and arteriosclerosis. Omega 3, 6 and 9 oils offer anti-inflammatory benefits and helps the skin to look healthy. Omega 9 oil is found in borage oil and prevents diseases that affect the heart like stroke and arteriosclerosis. Unbelievably, almond and peanut butters contain mono-saturated fats, which can help you lose weight. Many people avoid these healthy butters with the belief they will put on more weight.

Essential fatty acids are essential for the body and keep your skin healthy and your internal organs cushioned. If you seek to lose weight, cutting out the healthy EFA’s may take your body longer to lose weight. Use mono-saturated, poly-unsaturated oils, and Omega 3, 6, and 9 oils in your diet and you will be half way to saying goodbye to excess fat. Try to take on a healthy habit each morning and sprinkle seeds on your breakfast or have two tablespoons on their own. Seeds take a long time to chew but remember they are essential fatty acids that helps to regulate the body’s metabolism.
